Spring has sprung or so we were supposed to believe before we had another 6 inches of snow! However no one is fishing or landing on frozen lakes anymore, so I really think it's arrived.
In this newsletter
we're giving away something your Sametime administrators will love, a
tip for your testers and developers of Sametime applications and the
location of a new Sametime code sharing site.
IBM Beacon Award Finalist
Instant Queue Manager Named finalist in Best Lotus Software Solution Category.
We
were pleased to find out a couple of weeks ago that Instant Queue
Manager is a finalist in the 2007 IBM PartnerWorld Beacon Awards. The
winner of the category will be announced at the PartnerWorld event
taking place in St. Louis at the end of April, we'll be keeping our
fingers crossed.
The Lotus Software
Solution Category finalists are chosen from IBM Lotus Award winners
and recognize solutions designed to make more people more productive in
the context of what they do -- everyday.
Software Solution
Category finalists empower people to collaborate, learn, and take full
advantage of their collective knowledge in the context of business
processes. We'll be sure to let you know if we win.
If you'd like further details or would like to trial Instant Queue Manager, just send an email to info@instant-tech.com we'll be glad to get you setup!
Running Multiple Sametime 7.5.x Connect Clients
Making it easier to test your Sametime applications.
At Instant we'll often
find ourselves needing to test Sametime applications as multiple users.
Obviously this can be done using different machines, but that gets
expensive very quickly. In versions of Sametime earlier than 7.5, we
used the /Multi switch
to allow us to run multiple connect clients. In Sametime 7.5 the
/Multi switch is no longer supported so how can you run multiple
Sametime 7.5.x connect clients at the same time?
Fortunately a good friend sent us instructions on how this can be accomplished with Sametime 7.5.x. Follow this link to see how you can run multiple Sametime 7.5 Connect clients.
Sametime Code Exchange
IBM Helps Developers Form Social Networks.
IBM recently announced the deverloperWorks Exchange, intended to provide a venue for developers to share resources such as Sametime plugins!
The Sametime 7.5 Exchange is the first collaborative resource that has
been made available by IBM through developerWorks and IBM are planning
additional exchange sites for the future.
The site has an RSS feed, so if you don't want to keep checking back every day, you can have your favorite RSS Feed Reader do it for you.
IBM has already posted some great samples:
- Branding Example
- Defines branding areas for login dialog, Contact List, and chat
window. Areas can be a static image, URL, or application-defined
composite.
- Snippets - Provides a grab bag of small code samples.
- Quick Response
- On the chat window toolbar, creates a button and drop-down list that
contains common chat responses. Selecting the Quick Response button
opens a pop-up add-on containing a scrollable list of common chat
responses that can be added to.
- Acronym Expander - Automatically converts common acronyms, like LOL and BRB to laughing out loud and be right back.
- Buddy Note - Adds an application pane to the mini-apps area for typing text notes about selected buddies.
- Recent Buddies - Stores a list of most recent chat partners into a type of preferred users list.
If you like some of these
enhancements or your company has ideas for other Sametime plugins and
you don't have the skills or resources in house to make them, don't
worry we do! Just give us a call at 1-800-884-0443 or send us an email info@instant-tech.com to discuss your requirements in more detail.
